High Ridge Barn is 100% 5-star rated by our guests. Overlooking the picturesque Swythamley valley in the Peak District National Park, the Barn provides a luxurious base for a peaceful countryside break. Our only neighbours are red deer, sheep, wild birds & owls plus our rescue hens and hedgehogs.

The 17th Century pink stone High Ridge Barn is recently renovated and designed throughout to provide a modern interior giving a light and bright yet cosy feel, centred around the wood-burning stove, and the open-plan kitchen dining design means everyone can join in the conversation... even those on chef duty. The enormous double-height barn has 4 double bedrooms with super king, king or single luxury beds with hotel quality bedding, sleeping up to 8 people plus babes-in-arms. Up to 4 dogs are very welcome too! Just about everything is provided for your stay so you can enjoy travelling light.

Outside you can enjoy using the wood-burning sauna, BBQ, covered and lit dining area and large enclosed private garden. There is parking for up to 5 cars, plus a charger for electric vehicles.

Try some fabulous walks from the doorstep - Lud’s Church, along the spectacular Roaches high gritstone ridge, picture-perfect nearby Wincle (with its artisan brewery) on the pretty River Dane, and the scenic Three Shires Head using the maps provided.

We have combined fresh, Scandi-inspired furnishings with country comforts such as a wood-burning stove and plump Loaf sofas. We have all the mod cons too, such as superfast WiFi, Smart TV and Bluetooth Audio Pro speaker.

Stylish dining

We don't cut corners here. Our crockery is white Thomas porcelain, our dining table is an Eero Saarinen Tulip table and our dining chairs are Eiffel. We have all manner of glassware, and a wine fridge to keep what you're pouring into it cool.

Chef-level kitchen

One of our visiting chefs told us it's one of the best-equipped holiday let kitchens he's been in, and who are we to argue. We have everything from ample cutlery and crockery all the way through to a top-notch food processor.

Boutique bedrooms

Slumber gently on our comfy mattresses with feather & down duvets and pillows (hypoallergenic also available), and cool 1000-thread count Egyptian cotton bedding; you won't want to get out of bed in the morning!

BBQ

BBQs are a perennial favourite here at High Ridge. Who wouldn't love cooking in our beautiful surroundings. We have 2 Weber BBQs; a 57cm and a 37cm to keep veggie/vegan food separate from the meaty stuff. We'll provide you with charcoal and lighters to get going.

Don't let a little bit of rain or a hot summer sun stop you enjoying the garden. Our posh pergola with louvered roof, roll-down sides and built-in lighting will keep you dry, cool and cosy as the occasion demands.

Sauna

No, we don't have a hot tub. But let's be honest, they are not exactly great for the environment which is why we decided against one. We are absolutely sure though that you will LOVE our Scandi wood-fired sauna and outdoor shower.

Private garden

Your personal, secure garden area extends to half an acre, and includes a huge lawn, york-stone terrace, tables and chairs, sun loungers, games and parking for up to 5 cars.

Everything's here for babies and toddlers - travel light!

We have loads of baby and toddler facilities here at the Barn, so when it comes to packing up the car you can leave room for the other stuff, like wine!

Cots, beds & bedding

We have a full-sized Mothercare cot, a Red Kite travel cot and an Ikea Sniglar toddler bed. All with duvet, pillows and bed linen. We also have two baby monitors, one with video.

Bathing and changing

Here at the Barn we have a baby bath, anti-slip mats and a bath thermometer. Also you'll find changing mats and a nappy disposal bin.

Mealtimes

We've loads of baby and toddler-safe plates, bowls, bibs, mugs, spoons, forks and so on, as well as two types of high chair.

Safety

Keep an eye on the wee ones with our secure video baby monitor. We also have plug socket covers, fireguard, nightlights, LED candles and a stairgate.

Dogs are specially catered for

Beds, bowls, water bottles, poo bags and bins, a dog washing cabin with hot shower, professional bath and hair dryer, we've got the lot. We even have a doggy first aid kit.

Outside space

There's half an acre of secure space for your doggy companions to roam, run and sniff as they please. We provide waste bags, and a bin to put them in too.

Bath time

Everything for squeaky clean dogs of all sizes! Save your back by bathing them in the hydraulic lift professional dog bath. They'll love the warm shower, Wahl almond shampoo and having a blow dry courtesy the pet-quiet dryer. Or use one of the many dog towels provided.

Sleeping

Dog beds of all sizes are provided - from the tiniest terrier to the largest hound! Fleece-lined hard shell beds in 3 sizes, plus 2 enormous memory foam mattresses can be provided. Throws cover the sofas and every bed, and both downstairs bedrooms have solid oak floors.

Mealtimes

Dog bowls are supplied, including a K9H2O dog water container for those lovely walks, and of course a container of dog treats!

Hi Rob and Rosie - thank you for the breakdown of costs owed. I have paid this across using the details provided - rounded up. I just also wanted to say how much we appreciated the thought you had put into the barn and the provisioning of the barn. I know we discussed this during our stay but I just cannot get over how beautifully thought out everything in the barn was. I will list some of the things I noted.

The beautiful bedding and quality of the soft furnishings.

The comfortable and large proportioned beds.

The throws over the sofa so Dougie could continue being the spoilt dog he was used to being.

The low sofas which made it easy for Dougie and Charlie to climb up.

The eco-friendly cleaning products (which I know was largely due to the septic tank, but still, they are expensive). WGAC toilet rolls - plenty of spares too and all the cruelty free hand soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner.

The selection of baby items for Charlie - so thoughtful and much appreciated by the parents.

Provision of slippers because the barn is outdoor shoe free (This is how we all live anyway so we all brought our own slippers - but others families may not).

The quality of the pans - made it so easy to use them and then to clean up after. The largest steamer I have ever seen - I brought my own ‘industrial‘ sized steamer that I use for our large family gatherings (electric/Prestige) but your was bigger than that - superb. Baking stuff - parchment and tin foil.

The bluetooth speakers in all the bedrooms.

The eco-bedroom furniture.

The bird feeders - we saw goldfinch, nuthatch, woodpecker, coal tit, great tit, blue tit, robin, chaffinch, wren.

I could go on suffice to say we really enjoyed our stay. The sauna was a huge success and the availability of the dog wash room was inspired. It was so easy to keep Dougie clean when his owners had use of the right tools to bath him and dry him after a muddy walk. This obviously helps us to keep the barn cleaner inside. I’ll definitely be looking for any reason to return and bring different people with us - plus I’ll mention it to friends looking for a great place to stay.

We have absolutely loved our time at High Ridge Barn. It was a great layout for our extended family and two dogs, and we certainly wanted for nothing - it's so thoughtfully equipped with everything we could ever need!

We loved the walks from the door - the fact you could just wander up the lane to see the sheep with the baby or hike to the Roaches or Lud's Church for beautiful walks with incredible views and shady woods. Lovely bread and eggs too!

We are a family of 9 in total. 6 adults, 2 teenagers + 1 baby. We all had a great time and the large family area really suited us. Couldn't ask anything more and Rosie + Rob are brilliant hosts. Sauna on site is definitely an extra bonus. We had a lovely meal in the Lazy Trout, and a great walk round Tittesworth reservoir where there was a good playground for the wee one. Also visited Blaze Farm which was amazing as got to feed some of the animals. All in all a fabulous family break and we will definitely be coming back. Thanks very much.

Dear Rosie & Rob, thank you so much for going over and above on making our stay a memorable one and adding little touches like birthday bunting, flowers and fizz. The sauna was an added bonus on one of the coldest days here!

We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to the Peak District and exploring the beauty of that National Park with long walks from Chatsworth to Bakewell, Castleton to Mam Tor, and the local walk to Wincle Brewery via Lud's Church.

We ate in some fantastic pubs including the Lazy Trout, Sutton Hall and the Knott Inn. Everyone has been very friendly and welcoming. High Ridge Barn is luxury at its best and offers everything to its visitors and our four legged friends! The dog bath was essential for this time of year as was the boot radiator - one has already been ordered for our return home! Thank you again.

We spent 4 days at Highridge Barn to celebrate my big birthday. Our family has a wide range of physical ability, so the local area suited us well: the lake was ideal for an early morning run and Lud’s Church and The Roaches super walks from the house. Our visit corresponded with a few days of heavy rain so there was quite a bit of ‘indoor time’, which we spent in the warm, comfortable and spacious lounge eating and playing cards and games. The kitchen has everything you need, and more! Very comfortable beds and top-quality linens and towels.

Another wonderful stay (our third) with new guests who loved it just as much as us. Rosie & Rob were as hospitable and helpful as ever. This was our first summer trip so we were able to get a bit further afield, though great walks from the doorstep ''The Roaches'', ''Lud's Church'', ''Dane Way'' etc. With an hour and a bit drive we were able to get to ''Wyming Brook'' and ''Dovestone'', both beautiful.

The three 'locals' The Ship Inn, Ryles Arms and Lazy Trout were all great for food, service and being dog friendly. Mabel, as ever, loved the garden. Thank you once again and we're already looking forward to our stay number 4 in Feb '25!

We had such a wonderful weekend at High Ridge. Rob and Rosie were perfect hosts throughout. A lovely welcome pack! Everything in the property feels well thought out. Lots of little touches like umbrellas, sliders for use outside… so many things that make it an easy place to stay. Well stocked kitchen with useful and quality items. We brought our little dog who was living his best life! Dogs are clearly welcome and there were lots of extras there for him. Fully enclosed garden also made it easy. Great local walks. We definitely want to come back and wouldn’t think twice about booking High Ridge. In fact, we’d like to live there! Big thanks to Rosie and Rob for being top hosts.

MAGICAL HIGH QUALITY STAY

Rosie and Rob have turned an old hay barn into a high class home with no expense spared. The accommodation is wonderful in a peaceful setting and is perfect for a family or group break. R&R have made sure EVERYTHING you need is available and they can’t do enough to ensure you enjoy your stay. We couldn’t fault the place in any way and the local pubs we visited were superb, proper country atmosphere pubs with excellent local food. There is a quaint local brewery nearby and a huge selection of country walks. If you don’t like to watch TV on holiday there is a brilliant live show of birds constantly feeding and buzzing around the hand built feeding trestle station near the large lounge windows. I was celebrating my 70th birthday with family and everybody felt comfortable and at home almost immediately. Our dog Fin loved all the extras left just for him and enjoyed the professional dog bath station in an outbuilding. Well done Rosie & Rob and Thank You so much for making our stay so magical! Ken

Came here for a 60th celebration and had a brilliant stay here. The barn is amazing and comfortable and had everything we ever needed! The log fire and dog grooming shed was much appreciated by the dogs Jasper and Odin. This is a brilliant place for dogs.

Recommend the Lazy Trout and the Ship Inn for food, both very accommodating for dogs and large groups. Booking is essential. Tittesworth watersports also good for paddleboarding and canoeing. Wincle Brewery also worth a visit. Thank you so much for a brilliant stay!

Rosie & Rob, thank you so much for your wonderful cottage. It was everything we hoped for and more. We have stayed in many lovely places over the years but your thoughtfulness and attention to detail are second to none. The barn itself is stunning, spacious but homely and warm and clearly no expense spared when it comes to the quality of the furnishings and fittings. The setting is beautiful, the perfect mix of peaceful and rural, surrounded by beautiful countryside, without feeling too remote.

Mabel (the Cockapoo) has been in heaven. The secure garden area makes a huge difference, allowing us to relax whilst she enjoys the varied outside space. And the doggy spa, brilliant! and such a help after muddy walks. Not forgetting of course the sauna for the humans.

6 of us stayed at Robert and Rosie's beautiful barn over New Year. Their attention to detail and desire to give everyone the best stay possible is amazing. Beautiful 1000 thread count bedding, down duvets, bathrooms stocked with lovely eco toiletries, kitchen incredibly well equipped, large comfy sofas and beds, wood burner stocked with logs, plus everything you could want when you take a dog on holiday - dog bowls, beds, special shower. And a big bowl of home grown eggs, a loaf of homemade bread, some bottles of beer made at the local brewery - all very much appreciated as was the bottle of bubbles to toast in New Year. My husband and kids loved the sauna which Robert and Rosie are happy to heat up for you. They really couldn't have done more to be helpful. The barn is in a fantastic location, a short drive to civilisation and restaurants etc but very peaceful and quiet. it is surrounded by the most beautiful countryside and endless incredible walks. Christmas at High Ridge

I spent Christmas with my family at High Ridge Barn. It will be a Christmas we never forget! The location is absolutely stunning and the barn itself is so beautiful. Rosie & Rob Have thought of absolutely everything to make the stay so comfortable. The kitchen is amazingly well equipped with anything you would need. The barn was decorated for Christmas with a beautiful tree, wreath, lights and decorations throughout. Each of the rooms all extremely comfortable and each felt like an individual hotel room (but nicer!). The living area is really lovely and you can loose yourself looking out the window with the view and the constant busyness of the birds by the feeders right outside the window where we spent our time bird spotting (using the very handy bird spotting chart and book provided!). We took our toy poodle Pepper with us and she was absolutely spoilt, definitely the best place we have ever taken her (and she’s a regular holiday goer!) - from the totally secure garden that she enjoyed running around, beautiful walks, to the dog bed, leads, towels, treats, Toys and even a dog grooming cabin that was provided! It’s hard to even put into one review how brilliant the barn and gardens are but i couldn’t recommend enough, I can’t wait to go visit in the summer! Thank you, thank you, thank you for making such a lovely memory for my family spending our Christmas at High Ridge Barn!

We all thoroughly enjoyed this fabulous barn as a base for the preparation for our daughter's wedding. We had a wonderful relaxing time there amid the busy schedule. Probably the best holiday home we have ever stayed in. Exceptionally well equipped. Great hosts and the doggy cleaning area was superb. We really loved that our two pups could play safely outside. We tried out two local walks, great views. Had an early morning spa session and visited the brewery in Wincle. Sunday dinner at the Lazy Trout and we used DineIndulge chefs to serve, cook and clear up. A great find and a perfect setting for our 30th/60th birthday celebrations. We will be back!

What a place, what hosts, what landscapes. Wow, this must be the best place we have ever stopped at. Wonderful house with every convenience and luxury you could think of. Brilliant hosts who are charming and helpful and the bread is to die for. Panoramic and scenic views and walks that satisfy the casual walker and the most ardent explorer. Although our stop was only short we tried to do everything from the sauna to using the dog bath; from eating fresh bread to eating fondue - we tried the lot and wow did we enjoy it. The walks are great and the views breathtaking. But the thing that tells you it's great is the fact that we are coming back to have the time of our lives again. 17th to 24th September 2022 The Barn is absolutely gorgeous and has everything we could have possibly needed! Both the humans and dogs loved it! Having the dog washing facilities is a wonderful touch and was really needed after a wet and muddy walk to Lud's Church. The surrounds and area are beautiful, we feel like we needed a lot longer than a week to explore. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

''Absolutely bostin'!'' The first words of the old man as he first walked up the drive of High Ridge Barn. Unbelievable stay in the Barn and beautiful surroundings, made even better by temperatures of 30C+. Big hits for our family included the big bath, BBQ, indoor communal space and the fans (with 5 on order for our house, you should get commission 😀 Not forgetting the doggie paddling pool which kept our Rottie & Labrador, Martha and Rocco cool on the hot days. The freshly mowed lawn, otherwise known as 'the Wicket' was perfect for our aptly named 'Family Test Match' which commenced daily after dinner. We kept the Wicket primed and attempted to keep the grass/flowers alive with daily watering after the scorching sunshine. We rarely needed to leave the idyllic Barn to entertain ourselves. But we do recommend Lud's Church (take Rob's fantastic maps) and kayaking/paddle boarding at Rudyard Lake! We have truly enjoyed our unreal stay at High Ridge Barn and can't wait to recommend to friends and family. We hope to be back soon. 'PROUD West Midlands'.

Our group including our dog also appreciated the little extras - big dog bed, welcome pack (especially the sample ales from the nearby Wincle Brewery), local guides. Wow!  What a fabulous, relaxing stay we've had at the Barn.  Absolutely 1st class accommodation.  Rosie & Rob have thought of everything and then some.  Such wonderful hosts!  Our labrador Buckley has been living his best life in beautiful surroundings, and has been totally spoilt with all the treats and toys.  What a place to pick for our pup's first proper weekend break!  The property could not be in a nicer setting and to sit outside in the sun having a BBQ was just perfect.  Our visit was far too short but we will definitely be back and for a whole week next time.  Just a perfect stay!

Wow, wow, and more wow.  What a great place and such wonderful hosts - Rosie and Rob.  The barn is superbly equipped and very comfortable and spacious.  Coming here with the family was like a second Christmas.  All together having fun and enjoying the countryside walks despite the pretty awful weather.  Sam the dog couldn't believe the treats he was in for. Wow!  What a wonderful stay at High Ridge Barn.  From the moment we arrived, we were blown away.  The quality of the barn to all the toiletries and equipment were fantastic - a 5* retreat. The welcome pack and extra bread and eggs were really appreciated too.  During our stay we enjoyed walks in Macclesfield Forest, walks to Wincle and visits to the Ship Inn.  Thank you so much for a superb break, we've loved it and will be back!  Happy New Year.  PS: Star loved the treats and doggy bath!

Never have I stayed in such a perfect property for humans and dogs alike. The house has a contemporary twist on a beautiful traditional building and as you can see from the photos, everything is to the highest standard from the bed linen to the bathrooms. The most important aspect for us, travelling with 3 dogs, was that the whole place was absolutely secure. One of our dogs is a small terrier but the boundary was secure even for her. So much thought has gone into making this a relaxing place to come, providing dog beds and dog bowls to cut down on what you need to bring. Making the house dog friendly by covering the sofas with throws and allowing the dogs on all hard floors which is most of the downstairs including one of the bedrooms. We came in the wet and wintery weather so the doggy parlour outside was great to get the dogs really clean after a muddy walk, before going in the house. This was a fabulous place and I would highly recommend to anyone, particularly with dogs.

Only a short stay but we tried to squeeze in as much as possible.  We walked the Tittesworth Reservoir and followed Rob & Rosie's instructions for Lud's Church.  We ate out at the Lazy Trout and The Ship Inn - both fantastic. Stunning barn in the Peak District

Beautiful spacious barn in the most peaceful of surroundings. Everything you need is here and more. We were two couples and were spoilt for choice when it came to the bedrooms and who was sleeping where! Our two dogs loved the outside which was fully enclosed and even got to use the dog wash house too. Our first visit to the Peak District and it didn’t disappoint. Rob and Rosie were the perfect hosts, the weather was glorious and the barn was wonderful. Highly recommended!

What a week!  We have had such a fab time in the Peak District :-)   We have rock climbed, bouldered, 'done' Edale, swum in the Three Shires Head pool (well one of us anyway), walked The Roaches and visited Lud's Church.  The weather was variable, but it didn't dampen our experience.  However, if we had been stuck inside every day we wouldn't have cared!  The Barn is beautiful, equipped with everything you could possibly need and of it such high quality.  We have stolen quite a few decor ideas :-)

Rob and Rosie made us so welcome and the dogs were treated as VIP guests with everything catered for - even posh doggy treats!  The sauna was amazing and everything so well thought out - even our rubbish magically disappeared when we weren't looking!  Thank you so much.

Our booking for Xmas!  Moved to June and we were so lucky with the weather - no rain until last day when packing up to go home.  Nonetheless, we managed to make use of the dog bath :-)

A perfectly well equipped holiday home.  Surrounded by wonderful walks enjoyed by us all.  We really appreciated the effort that had been made with all of the 'extras' and we were left wanting for nothing.  A long awaited family holiday, very much needed, very much enjoyed.  Thank you.

Lovely stay, everything you could possibly want.  Really well equipped accommodation with lovely grounds.  Enjoyed using the sauna and chilling on the terrace.  So nice to be able to access local walks (Roaches, Ludd Church etc.) without having to take the car.

Best Peak District experience

I could not recommend High Ridge barn or the hosts more highly. The barn is absolutely beautiful: the views are sublime, it is tastefully decorated and cleverly converted keeping original features while adding all the mod cons and absolutely everything you may need to feel at home away from home. Our children aged 9 and 10 loved it all, the garden, the sheep in the field next door, the hens, the birds, the board games, the dog grooming area, the fire place and of course the superfast wifi. The barn is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty and we really enjoyed some fantastic walks soaking in the views and the pure air. The hosts were the kindest and most attentive I’ve met so far, they even set up an office for my husband to work in and provided alternative food for our dog when she refused her usual one. Stay at the barn if you get the chance, we will come back as soon as we can!

Ultimate luxury in perfect country location

Just wanted to get away for a few days after lockdown, somewhere the dogs would be welcome but with good food, good pubs and spectacular walks, this is the place to stay. It's a four bedroom barn conversion done to a luxury scale in which you'll want for nothing. In addition to the walks and the pubs, in the four nights we were there, we visited Chatsworth House and (the younger ones) Alton Towers - both less than an hours drive in spectacular country side. The owners provided freshly laid eggs and freshly baked bread every morning making breakfast a real treat.

Well, what can we say, what an amazing pad, so well equipped, the hostess so welcoming and a great touch of home-made bread, local beers etc.  Had a great walk to Wincle, beer in brewery and pub.  All the family are now hooked on bird watching, what a variety.

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay in the Peak District.  Rosie and Rob were so friendly and welcoming and great hosts throughout.  The Barn is a fabulous place to stay, with great family space and equipped with everything we needed and more!  It was peaceful and quiet, and a great location for exploring - meaning we could get to Chatsworth, the Roaches, Leek, Middleport Pottery, Peak Wildlife Park, Quarry Bank, Buxton and Macclesfield - we have been busy and there is so much more to explore.

We had some great food too at the Jervis Arms Onecote, the Ship Inn Wincle/Danebridge, the Castle Inn Congleton, and the Knot Inn Rushden Spencer.  We would love to come back and explore the places we didn't make it to.  Thanks again.  Also, Granelli's Ice Cream in Macclesfield well worth seeking out!

We had a lovely weekend at this gorgeous property. Rob and Rosie have thought of everything and are very accommodating. The property is decorated and furnished to an extremely high standard which helped make our stay perfect. The location is brilliant and there are some lovely walks right on the door step. If you are looking for a lovely place to relax in beautiful surroundings then I highly recommend High Ridge Barn. The barn is beautifully renovated, very spacious and easily accommodates a large group of all ages. It is in such a peaceful location with great walks from the door though if you don’t want to move you can watch the sheep grazing and the birds feeding from the lounge. The dogs loved it too and the doggy spa, it’s dog heaven! Rosie & Rob are very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Can’t wait to return.

Well we did it!  We changed our habit of holiday time and returned to this amazing cottage!  We had forgotten how perfect it is, from the high quality of the cottage and its gorgeous location.  Lots of walking again.  We explored the Roaches and certainly recommend Goyt valley/Erwood reservoir.  The reservoir has some brilliant walks around/over the hills (free parking too).  Revisited the Lazy Trout for yummy lunches and did try the Ship Inn but was closed (due to unforeseen circumstances on that day).  Also for ref the Cat & Fiddle isn't open any more.  (We don't live in pubs but do like a good lunch!)

Well done Rob and Rosie, special thanks again for everything and being on hand if required but not intrusive.  We will be back in 2020 as there is still so much to explore and enjoy!

Simply superb - luxury home from home for pooches and people!

Wow! What can I say that the other reviews have not. Rosie and Rob are fantastic. Attention to detail is amazing right from their first communications. When we arrived, it was clear that every small detail had been thought of. We were a group of 7 girls and 3 pooches. The house is stunning and given that we had a great week of weather we spent most of it outside. The views are fantastic and it's a really peaceful setting. It's fairly remote which is how we loved it, 10 mins drive to the pub and 15 mins into Leek. We has a Tesco delivery on day 1 and popped to Macclesfield mid-week. Enjoyed lovely BBQs and lunches out. Just one thing to be mindful of. We ate at The Ship Inn one evening and it was really not good. Not sure if it was just a bad night as reviews seem quite mixed but our experience was poor, food-wise. We enjoyed walks on the doorstep, with a path up to The Roaches. We would definitely recommend Rosie and Rob's place and will look forward to visiting again in the future. Rosie and Rob thank you so much.

We have just got home from the most perfect weekend at High Ridge Barn. Rob and Rosie have thought of absolutely everything. The barn is stunning and has everything you could possibly need, and even things you never knew you would need! We were 8 adults and 3 dogs, it was great knowing we could fully relax in the garden as they were completely secure for the dogs The walks they recommended were stunning and the dog bath was a brilliant help after a muddy walk! Couldn’t recommend it highly enough and we will definitely be back!

Fantastic barn with everything you could ever need here.  A wonderful welcome from Rosie and Rob topped off with a lovely welcome pack, including local beers.  Despite the wet weather we had a lovely walk to Wetton pub for lunch (via Thor's Cave), have seen the woodpecker on the feeder and played lovely games in such a great space.  Including that our dogs also had 5* luxury in their spa...including a blow dry!  Overall, a great weekend for us all to meet, relax, walk, eat and chill out in such a lovely place.  Thanks so much.

Family break at High Ridge Barn

Our family gathered for a 'big' birthday celebration at beautiful High Ridge Barn. The barn and grounds were fantastic. Everything done to such a high specification with no expense spared. Rob and Rosie were so helpful and couldn't do enough for us. 3 year old Jack loved feeding the chickens and playing in the garden with all the outdoor games provided. Marley the dog enjoyed a wash and blowdry in the pet parlour. The adults in the party loved relaxing in the sauna after a busy day. All the furnishings and bed linens were of the highest quality and the kitchen provided more gadgets than we could imagine. It was lovely to arrive to a fresh loaf of home made bread. cake and local brewery beer, as well as milk, tea etc. We highly recommend High Ridge Barn and thank Rob and Rosie for providing such a super property.

Pristine and well thought out barn

Beautiful Barn conversion set in picturesque and peaceful surroundings. The owners have thought of everything, from a dog grooming shed, slippers and dressing gowns, a lovely welcome package on arrival, and even offered to receive and put away our online shopping. Would highly recommend and will hopefully return again.

Right from our initial enquiry Rob & Rosie couldn't have been more helpful.  We've stayed in many cottages/barns over the years but never experienced the quality and attention to detail!   We've especially never had anyone offer to unpack our food delivery in advance - really lovely touch but watch Rob doesn't pinch your chocolate :-)  We were celebrating our daughter's 14th birthday and found a great mix of chill time with walks (sorry for the dents in the grass - boules got competitive).   Lucky for us it was Wincle Fete during our stay.  What a lovely traditional family afternoon with a few Wincle Ales.  Thank you so much Rob & Rosie, you have a very special spot and all the extras have made for a wonderful family break.

Eight of us came to stay at High Ridge Barn to celebrate our 30th birthday's. From the start Rosie and Rob were fantastic hosts, and extremely helpful - even unpacking our food shop delivery for us! The fresh eggs & homemade bread on arrival was a lovely extra. The house itself was fantastic, with all the amenities you could possibly need. Lovely big rooms and bathrooms (robes and slippers were a great bonus), all nicely done out. The location was great for us with lots of nice walks right on your doorstep. We will definitely be visiting again next year!

The xxxxxx Clan, including 3 hounds.  As you are reading this, you don't need us to tell you how amazing the barn, location and hosts are.  We have stayed at some holiday lets but this one by far is the best!  Every detail has been carefully thought out.  Rob & Rosie you have created a unique holiday home and have raised the bar to an exceptional standard, well done!

A few tips for your stay.  Loads of great walks from the barn (thanks to Rob for the maps!).  Ship Inn, Wincle - great food and do 'doggie dinners' (but they don't serve food all day). Tittesworth Reservoir - great walk (but you will need change (for the car park £5 per car per day).

Look out for the woodpecker on the bird feeders and enjoy this brilliant property.  I have always said, we wouldn't go back to the same holiday cottage as there are so many to discover but after here, I think I will struggle to beat.

From putting our grocery delivery away to supplying dog beds/treats & toys to the fabulous 'welcome hamper' - a great place to stay and revisit.

Warm, welcoming and extremely comfortable stay - all mod cons !

A group of seven of us stayed for two nights, for some weekend hiking through The Roaches, Lud's Church and surrounding areas. The barn was very clean, spacious, and well presented, and renovated to a high specification making the whole experience very comfortable. We cooked for ourselves, and the kitchen was very well equipped. The place has plenty of bathrooms and is well set up for groups, so at no time did we feel crowded. The hosts were very welcoming, and set up the wood fire sauna for us after our hike, which was a fantastic treat after a long days hike. We would certainly return and highly recommend to all.

We have had a lovely time feeding the chickens and staying here.  The pond is great and little Pond Book helps us see the small insects.  The Pond Book is great too...we read it.  We climbed the Roaches and at the top it was lovely.  We also went to see Blue John, it was blue and yellow and really pretty, and we learnt abut the slimy rock Flowstone. (age 6, 8 and 9)

A hidden gem in the most wonderful setting

We stayed at High Ridge Barn and I have to say this is we had the most amazing break we could ever wish for. If I could give Rosie at 10* rating I would!

The accommodation is out of this world, the best we have ever stayed in. There are so many thoughtful touches, from the bread, beer and cake upon arrival. To items that surprised us in every room...free from toiletries, the vast array of coffees and the games for adults and children. Not to mention the quality of the furnishings.

But the bit that surpassed us all is the way we welcomingly warmed by Rosie and Rob. Both children and dogs have some fond memories of the doggy bath and chicken feeding and egg finding.

We will definitely be returning.

Having spent a wonderful family weekend at High Ridge Barn in September last year we were eager to return. We received a warm welcome from owners Rob and Rosie. The welcome pack is the best I’ve come across. Homemade bread, muffins, local beer and bottled water. 6 months on the barn is still in pristine condition. The weather was glorious and we were able to further explore the local area. Another great weekend.

What a wonderful stay at your beautiful property!!  So many thoughtful touches all around the home - we were discovering new things every day.  The cake and balloons were a hit!  Thank you so very much for the surprise :-)  The girls loved feeding the chickens and we all enjoyed befriending the friendly pheasant.  He was nicknamed ''Fairy the Pheasant''.  We hope to return to this slice of paradise.

6 Adults, 2 young Granchildren and a huge Dog all over prepared for a winter break, coats galore, scarves, base layers,hats, walking boot etc. What we actually needed was shorts, flip flops, sun cream for what turned out to be the highest February temperatures on record!!

For my sins I run a lovely Guest House near Cambridge which apparently is very good! So whilst I was keen to get away , I have to confess to being a little apprehensive as to what the place was going to be like. Well I needn't have bothered, from what I can see the bar has been raised... considerably!

Suffice to say we were all superbly catered for in every way possible. The location is to die for and the specification, both internal and external, is second to none. The property is perfect for entertaining at home with ample space and comfort should you want to stay in. Having said that The Lazy Trout was extremely good, the fish and chips were superb on the first night, the Wincle Brewery and it's location is just magical, and the beer is not bad either.

We enjoyed several of the recommended walks which were exhilarating and with stunning scenery and sensible because we all survived. I think you get the idea, so well done to Rob and Rosie (who incidentally are on hand should you need them but otherwise very discreet) for creating this masterpiece and will we be returning .... but of course!

A weekend to relax - in front of the fire, in the sauna, chopping wood, feeling alive on the Roaches with driving hail and wind. (Ice cream van still at the bottom!) Sitting there on the terrace on the 25th February in 14 degrees at 9.30 in the morning, and all I can hear is a woodpecker - absolutely glorious. The location is sublime and extremely private and secluded, and yet Rosie & Rob are available in an instant, if you need anything. As our first real family outing with our 2 new grandchildren this was a perfect choice. The bedrooms are placed in such a way that the 'oldies' can be far away from the children if need be, but the large communal kitchen/lounge is perfect for all being together. The standard of 'fit' is exceptional in every regard and well thought through to the last detail. Didn't get a chance to use the sauna because we were too busy - maybe next time! Thanks so much for a wonderful break in a wonderful part of the world.

It’s newly refurbished, well designed, and stocked with everything we needed for our mixed troop of kids, teens, middlers and oldies. Just wow wow wow!! High Ridge Barn is not only in a fantastic peaceful real countryside setting but the cottage itself is total 5 star luxury! Every detail and comfort has been thought through... from 1000 thread count bedding to boot warmers, a dog washing hut, dimming bed side lights, a fabulous free standing bath and huge wet room shower, super fast broadband, DVDs and games, massive comfy sofas, nightlights, binoculars and bird feeders (total bird spotting convert!), eggs fresh from their hens, top of the range kitchen and every gadget you could need... I could go on and on!! The owners are charming, fun, genuine and care deeply. There is a huge amount of substance and love that has gone into this inspiring renovation! No corners have been cut, it actually is as spacious and lovely as the pics look and the bedrooms are all lovely and a decent distance apart. An absolute must if you want to visit this area and a good excuse if you haven’t considered the area before!

What a fantastic holiday break! This is our first time away from our homes around this festive period and we couldn't have chosen a more tranquil and idyllic location than High Ridge Barn. Rosie & Rob are the perfect hosts and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived to our regrettable departure. The Barn is fantastic and finished off to an extremely high standard with every amenity you could wish for. The Barn was perfect for our Labrador dog and Rosie and Rob took centre stage in ensuring Bobbi (the dog) enjoyed the doggie spa, with a shampoo and blow dry!! We will not hesitate to recommend this place to all our friends and are planning next year's trip already. Rosie and Rob are our friends for life! Thanks a bunch.

We have had a fabulous time and couldn't have asked for more from Rosie, Rob or the cottage! We were celebrating my mother-in-law's 70th birthday - there were six of us and little Kevin, the Norfolk Terrier, who loved meeting Dixie and Jessie. We couldn't have been made more welcome (with eggs, bread and beer) on our arrival. Rosie was also up to greet us, which was very nice after a long drive! We went on a couple of walks in the local area, coming back to doggie baths and a sauna, which was amazing! The pub recommended (the Lazy Trout) was great for Sunday lunch. We're really sad to be leaving and looking forward to coming back soon!

We were a group of seven for our annual hiking trip! After a very long drive from London on Friday night, we were made very welcome on arrival by hosts Rosie & Rob. The house was in amazing condition with the eggs, home made bread, and local ales - a much appreciated gesture. We spend the Saturday on a wonderful hike through the Roaches, with Lud's Church a highlight. Upon return, the sauna was prepared and was a novel way to relax sore muscles! Absolutely fabulous and stylish property, in an incredible location

The property is wonderfully presented and is absolutely immaculate throughout. The furnishings and fittings are of an extremely high standard, it has been modernised with great care and detail whilst managing to retain character with its original features subtly positioned in each room. As soon as we entered the property we were immediately taken in by it’s cosy atmosphere which certainly helped us relax and enjoy the fabulous countryside and views. The surrounding area is simply beautiful. The property is ideally positioned for walking and exploring this exquisite part of the Peak District. On arrival, we were provided with a guided tour and the owners had baked us fresh bread and muffins and had left a few bottles of real ale from the Wincle Brewery, and some fresh eggs which was a lovely gesture. If you book this property, you will not be disappointed I promise. Thank you Rob and Rosie for an amazing break!

8 humans and 1 dog meeting in the Peak District as the halfway point between our homes in Bath and Newcastle-upon-Tyne. We feel so privileged and lucky to have found High Ridge Barn - what a fabulous property and so well equipped - we wanted for nothing. Paradise in the Peak District

Sometimes reality does not match the anticipation. Nothing could be further from such at Highridge Barn as the ”WoW” factor kicks in from the moment the outstanding hosts, Rob and Rosie, welcome you. The accommodation surpasses any anticipation from the pictures on the website - spacious, light, fitted out to the highest specification and equipped for every eventuality. The dog grooming facilities were so good that Grandpa contemplated using them as a private facility! The sauna is a must - as it is a proper sauna with cold (and hot!) shower. The scenery is stunning and the walks from the front door are awesome. By now you will have gleaned that our time in Highridge Barn was very, very special. Rob and Rosie have endeavoured to make your stay as special as they can - successfully; no self-catering accommodation will ever be the same again as they have set the benchmark very high indeed. Have no qualms, this is one booking you will not regret!

Wonderful dog-friendly barn conversion

We had a brilliant weekend here celebrating a family birthday. Rosie and Rob are fantastic hosts - very generous and friendly, they really made us feel welcome. The barn conversion is stunning and immaculate. It is also cosy and a lovely place to relax even if the weather isn't great. We really appreciated how dog friendly everything was and how welcome our dog was! There were lovely and easily accessible walks. We highly recommend it.

Loved this fantastic barn, everything was perfect! It was spacious, well-equipped and all 8 of us felt very comfortable in this high-specification holiday rental. The owners were very friendly and great hosts. Nothing was a problem. They live next door which is ideal if you need to ask anything but they give you privacy if/when needed. They reassured us from the outset that they have no issue with noise. They absolutely love dogs and provide for pets also. They provided a bed, toys, treats and even a professional grooming area to wash them in. The sauna is a lovely add on and it had the best view I've ever had from a sauna!

Beautiful Barn Conversion with Stunning Views

I was looking for somewhere in the Peak District for two families of four to meet for a long weekend and I was fortunate enough to find High Ridge. From the very first enquiry Rob and Rosie could not have been more helpful and when we arrived at the barn we were not disappointed. The barn was newly converted to a very high standard, every little detail has been considered and it is extremely well equipped. There was a hamper and delicious homemade cake waiting for us and the whole place felt so cosy and homely. The beds were comfortable, the towels soft and really you couldn't want for anything. As far as the local area goes we didn't really venture out other than for some walks which we loved. If we had been there longer then there are plenty of places to visit within easy reach.We also took our dog who was made to feel very welcome and being able to clean her up easily after our walks in the grooming cabin was such a treat. Rob & Rosie are fabulous hosts and always on hand if you need them, we are already planning our return visit.

Luxurious, stylish yet homely pet friendly country barn

Nestled in the beautiful Swythamley valley, High Ridge barn is modern and stylish yet still retains traditional features. It is the perfect location to escape the hustle and bustle of life. There are numerous country walks from the doorstep and other activities and attractions nearby if required. The barn has been renovated both inside and out to an extremely high standard. The kitchen, bathrooms and furnishings are second to none. The outside area includes a lawn and patio all beautifully and sympathetically landscaped. The owners Rob and Rosie who live in the house next door were very welcoming and friendly without being intrusive. Upon our arrival there was a welcome pack of groceries, including amongst other delicious goodies homemade bread and cake and beer from the local Wincle brewery. It was the little touches that we really appreciated. Toiletries in the bathrooms. Binoculars to view the wildlife including the local woodpeckers at the bird feeders. Treats and toys for our 2 labradors. Even earplugs in the bedrooms. Rob and Rosie have thought of everything to cater for both human and canine guests. We made full use of the garden sauna and our 2 dogs enjoyed the dog spa on our final day. All in all a wonderful weekend and I’m sure we will be back.

Superb place to stay

This luxurious, yet homely, Peak District barn was perfect in everyway. The owners have created a contemporary interior but maintained and restored the barn's characteristics. The sitting room with its high beamed ceilings and large window, which enabled you to watch the birds feeding on the pergola and look out onto uninterrupted countryside views was probably a favourite of mine. The barn was very well equipped with everything we needed. The indoor and outdoor games were an added bonus to our entertainment. Everything from the bed linen & towels to the free standing bath were of superb quality. Rosie and Rob were always on hand if you needed anything. Thank you for the wonderful welcome pack and the organic bathroom toiletries. We all had a truly amazing and fabulous time. We will certainly be booking to stay here again.

Perfect

Peak District Barn Conversion: a wonderful holiday retreat, stylish and architectural, yet comfy and a real home. We stayed at High Ridge Barn during five days in august, 2018. It is a surprisingly complete and very well designed cottage with plenty of room for eight people; three bathrooms; a very complete kitchen, open plan with dining area with superb views. All a fine combination of fresh and tasteful modern design and functionality with warm features such as sumptuous sofa's, pillows, beautiful oak flooring, luxuriously large and comfortable beds and exquisite decoration. All high end but tastefully done and non-intrusive. The owners are very kind and really made us feel most welcome. In the outside area the views of the wonderful Peak district continue; it allows for perfect breakfasts in the morning sun and al fresco dining. A fine bbq, a sauna, a large terrace, a lawn with the possibility to improve one's golf swings. Walks into the surrounding countryside start at the doorstep. Although we did not bring a pet ourselves, we could see dogs are very welcome, based on e.g. special amenities for them and the enthusiasm the owners displayed in this respect. The house is very clean and contains everything one could wish for. Pleasant surprises were the extremely fast wifi, the continuous hot water supply and details such as boot heating in the entrance/cloakroom. A splendid extra after long autumn and winter walks we imagined. Buxton is nearby, a wonderful town with a.so an opera house an fine independent shops. Furthermore some very nice restaurants(the owners know the area and are happy to inform you about the possibilities). A perfect base to explore and enjoy The Peak District and to relax! We certainly recommend High Ridge Barn to others and plan to come back to it.
